An Approach That Honors Who You Are
I take a holistic and contextual approach to therapy and believe that therapy is most impactful when I honor each person’s unique social, cultural, psychological and biological background, with a values-affirming, collaborative and empathic stance.
My therapeutic style is warm, supportive, and directive when needed. I employ active listening, curiosity and empathy, and don’t shy away from providing an appropriate “nudge” towards approaching difficult topics.
At the same time, I view therapy as a collaborative process where clients and therapists work together to explore thoughts, emotions, and behaviors in a supportive, safe, and non-judgmental environment. Trust, safety, and respect are essential for creating an environment where clients feel comfortable being vulnerable.
Accordingly, I draw from a variety of evidence-based psychotherapies, including behavioral therapies like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), third-wave psychotherapies like Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and more structured therapies like Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Prolonged Exposure in order to find the right fit for each of my clients.
I believe therapy is not a one-size-fits-all solution but a personalized experience that evolves to meet the unique needs of each person. It’s a space for exploration, meaningful vulnerability, healing, and growth, whether that means processing past trauma, finding relief or healing, developing healthier coping strategies, or gaining clarity about life’s direction.
As a first-generation daughter of immigrants, I am bilingual in English and Spanish and provide therapy in both languages, always taking into account my clients’ intersectional identities including immigration status, acculturation and cultural background.
To all my clients, past and new, thank you for allowing me the honor and privilege of bearing witness with you in this space of vulnerability.
